Hi Gauri,

We would really like to thank you for your time and for sharing your immigrant experiences and insights with our newcomer adult students. You put the limelight on some really powerful points about:
1. What Canadian experience really means?
2. How important it is to assimilate into the culture?
3. The need to set goals.
4. What’s the key to success in achieving those goals?
5. The significance of speaking and practising the language yet not being limited by English.

It was also wonderful to learn about your passion for music and how you were not hesitant to start work from scratch in Canada despite your educational background and professional accomplishments back home and how you made it to the top of your career in finance in Scotia bank.
I really appreciate how you simplified and personalized everything. I still have to discuss at length with my class about how they felt. However, I do have some feedback from our Level 5, Instructor Rosanna and I am copying and pasting below. I will do a formal feedback on the Passages Canada website hopefully early next week.

MESSAGE FROM ROSANNA, L5 INSTRUCTOR

My students all had positive feedback from today’s talk with Gauri Guha from Passages Canada :

What students in L5 said:

“She gave me a lot to think about”

“She reminded us to be positive and not get discouraged”

“It was great to meet someone who came 34 years ago and hear about her achievements, good and bad experiences”

“It’s a good topic.”

“We get busy with our daily lives and forget about our goals”

“She reminded us that learning the language is most important and that we don’t always
speak english at school and miss the opportunity”

Kind regards,
